Girls who act in the fantasy genre tend to have guys going weak at their geeky knees and these girls are no exception! Everyone’s favorite blue beauty Zoe Saldana from Avatar, Mia Wasikowska (Alice in Wonderland) and Selena Gomez (Wizards of Waverly Place use their on-screen images of female empowerment yet all retain their own personal styles.

Glee-ding lady, Lea Michelle, who plays Rachel Berry in the hit TV Show Glee is set to be a huge star on Broadway. Her amazing performance at New York’s Tony Awards earlier this year in a taxi-cab yellow dress by Zac Posen has already elevated her to lead role status amongst the theatre elite.

Despite the classic ‘My Fair Lady’ dress on offer Audrey WAS the little black dress, as she made it famous on the big screen. Women from all over the world use this little closet staple for gala’s, black tie events, weddings and more, paying homage to Audrey’s unique sense of style. Twiggy also introduced women to short cut hair and wearing reformed suits (such as button down shirts, ties, and vests) like men, showing both masculinity and feminism in her own unique way.

Playing on her ice cool reputation and timeless grace, Grace Kelly wore an Edith Head designed dress of the palest blue in 1955 to receive the Best Actress Oscar for The Country Girl. From her early days as a Philadelphia Society girl, to Hollywood stardom and princesshood as the wife of the Prince of Monaco her eternal style, sophistication and substance has had style lovers captivated for generations.

The bright pink strapless Satin dress that Marilyn Monroe wore in the movie “Gentlemen Prefer Blondes” was auctioned off last month and was expected to fetch between $150,000 & $250,000. Maybe it’s the bombshell, sexpot persona or the natural flair that she carried herself with. Or maybe it’s her perfect hour-glass figure and penchant for stylish, designer pieces that border on the subtle to the downright scandalous but her glamour still captures our imaginations.

We all know SJP better for her  alter-ego Carrie Bradshaw defined fashion in the 90s but the actress herself as grown into a style icon of her own always carrying the latest fashion and making it her own. SJP attended the 2006 MET Costume Institute Gala with her good friend, the late Alexander McQueen, in which the pair wore fantastically daring, matching tartan designs.

The British Fashion Awards late last year saw singer-turned-fashion designer Victoria Beckham bring out her inner vamp by dressing in this floor-scraping, long-sleeved gown (with jewelled shoulder) from her own Spring 2010 collection which gave a nod to the gothic trend. Victoria sure knows the power of a LBG (Long Black Gown).

Another often-forgotten fashion icon was Debbie Harry (or Blondie as she was known) who was the queen of customized clothes. What better way to own couture! She even looked great wearing a pillowcase and red electrical tape!

ladygaga: Hair-Bleach party. Red nails, Red lipstick, and familiar burning hair fumes. Were swooning over the 2millviews of Alejandro preview. Paws up As the video broke and crashed her site Gaga was still busy playing her endless game of dress-ups.

adamlambert : Alejandro! Thanks for the mancandy Gaga! beautifully shot video! The positive feedback started to rain in about the video. Do you think she makes these incredible videos to take away from the uninspiring songs she creates?

kelly_clarkson : Kudos to all the women in the industry that can get away with not wearing pants for performances but I feel like I missed a pop star memo?? Good point Kelly! There’s not many more clothes pop stars can take off really!? How about putting clothes on – now that’s controversial!

One of Lady Gaga’s multiple changes of outfit at the MTV Video Music Awards in New York City last year saw this fantastic silver-quilted bodysuit and matching glittery moon boots.

A performance last December at the Nokia Theatre in LA showcased this incredible disco ball outfit complete with shoulder pads big enough to rest her weary, over-worked head on!

Georgio Armani shook things up at this year’s Grammys by designing Gaga’s entire wardrobe for the event including this neo-Tinker Bell super high cut bodysuit complete with ultra-arched shoulders and matching green glitter booties.

The metal panier dress Gaga wore at the end of the Paparazzi video came from Dolce & Gabbana’s spring/summer 2007 collection and inspired by one of her favorite designer’s (Thierry Mugler) sexy robot theme. Once again, the seminal ‘Telephone’ video introduced this custom-made chain and jumpsuit by Viktor & Rolf and sunglasses by Haus of Gaga.

Whilst touring last year Lady Gaga attended the IFA Exhibition in Berlin wearing a stunning ivory and black Marc Jacobs satin dress from the Fall 2009 collection.

Lady Gaga performed at the launch of VEVO in New York City and made another huge fashion statement wearing a grey flowing gown from Valentino’s Spring 2010 collection.

Gaga wore a futuristic-inspired white ruffle dress at the Z100 Jingle Ball last December. The ruffles on the dress are simply beautiful and she almost looks angelic with her blonde locks against the crisp white fabric.

One of Lady Gaga’s more bizarre ensembles, worn during one of her 5 costume changes at the MTV Music Awards in New York, was this unusual red lace mini dress with matching mask and headdress.  It made her acceptance speech a little tricky!

During the UK’s Brit Awards 2009 Gaga made an impact in a fabulously shaped neon-pink dress by Malaysian concept designer, Bernard Chandran.

Pop royalty rounded off a dream year by greeting the Queen of England in an incredible Victorian latex gown by Atsuko Kudo.
